Job Description

Carry out the microbiology testing and microbiology laboratory management in order to comply with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and support the business

These include:

Making media for the tests run in the lab

QC of media and tests,

Calibration of equipment,

Environmental monitoring by sampling and testing air, water and product handling surfaces,

Raw material sampling

Raw Material testing

Finished product testing

Organism identification

Data entry

Data analysis

Product release

Taking action on out of specification materials

Job Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements:

· College degree in Biology/Microbiology or Chemistry - BS is preferred

· 0-3 years’ experience in laboratory required

· Aseptic technique is critical/required

· Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices

· Fluency in reading, writing and communicating in English, specifically with reading and writing procedures and reports

· Ability to document and report to Management on critical issues

· Fluency in computers, including file and directory creation, email and Microsoft Office

· Leadership: has the ability to collaborate and build relationships with all levels of the organization, inside and outside of the Micro and QA area

· Has the ability to take ownership and successfully improve and track Daily Management Systems, Lab Excellence, Data Integrity, etc.

· Manufacturing environment requiring flexibility in schedule to meet demands. Overtime may be required on a business need basis.

Selection Criteria:

1. Job knowledge/Technical Mastery: demonstrate familiarity and knowledge working in laboratory environment. Utilize technical knowledge and lab experience to perform Plant testing and analysis using standard test methods.

2. Problem solving ability: demonstrate ability to utilize technical knowledge and lab experience to identify problems in a timely manner. Give sufficient attention to detail when seeking problem solutions. Use logical approach and good judgment in difficult situations.

3. Ability to Plan and Organize Work: good time management and priority setting skills including strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks at one time.

4. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Individual will need to have good interfacing skills within Quality (Chemistry, Micro and QA) and with other Plant functions including Making, Packing and Warehousing.

5. Proven capability to develop mastery of self and others: demonstrated ability to learn new test methods and meets the success criteria during Method Transfer and Verification process.

6. Embrace Diversity: ability to work effectively in diverse environment. Must be able to show respect to individual differences and capabilities

7. Loss Elimination: ability to identify losses and look for ways to reduce operating costs
