As the Global R&D Director for the Vicks Respiratory (Cough & Cold) and Sleep category, the main responsibility of this role is to drive the global innovation plans and identify global scale opportunities to serve our Vicks business. This includes the development of global platforms and scaled innovation that can help us catapult business growth and drive productivity through scale and synergies.
This role is a single contributor role and will represent R&D in the multifunctional global team. This role reports into the Global PHC Scale, Synergy and Capability team (GSSC) intended to scale solutions and platforms, increase productivity, drive efficiency, and build capability across regions. This individual will partner with the multifunctional partners in GSSC to develop global playbooks and with AMA, LA, EU, and NA regions to ensure landing zones for our scaled innovation and alignment in the regional IMPs. Vicks is our biggest brand in PHC and driving growth is the top priority for the PHC category.
The individual will identify the key actives/formulas/forms that deliver the consumer JTBD to grow HHP and identify supply/manufacturing options (in partnership with C&D groups, ESS and PS). Identification of regulatory pathways to market (in partnership with GPS) will be critical. Lastly, this individual will need to collaborate with the regions to ensure seamless transition as the project moves from GSSC design into SIMPL in the regions for product launches.
Job Qualifications
Leadership: Ability to lead and influence programs through clear problem definition and specific action plans. A passionate advocate of the consumer with a business-driven mentality with a bias to action and decision making.
Strategic Thinking: As this organization is only 3.5 years old, the vision of what is possible and the processes for handovers and transitions are still being optimized. As the organization grows and the innovation and scale opportunities become clearer, it will be important refine those processes and adjust and pivot as needed to drive business results with speed and efficiency.
Strong Collaboration: Strong history of global, collaborative relationships with both commercial and technology partners to develop innovation programs that delights consumers in the regional markets and are globally scaled, where possible, to drive speed and productivity. Demonstrated effective multifunctional partnerships.
Strong Communication Skills – Ability to synthesize complex consumer, technical and regulatory input into clear succinct messages.
Agility: The business is on a fast pace and the innovation plans can be dynamic. The ability to lead through change to meet the business needs requires agility and the mental balance to switch gears when needed.
PR Franchise Mastery: Mastery in Products Research including product design principles to translate consumer insights into tangible JTBD and requirements for holistic product design to drive the business by increasing HHP with IS products.
Regulatory Understanding & Experience: Experience across various regulatory classification in US and regions outside of US, including drug/OTC, supplements, food, herbal medicine, cosmetic, general articles, etc.
Pay Range: $145,000 - $180,000
